It was the most exciting day of my life. 7/7/07 Crystal and I tied the knot. It was a day we had been planning for for nearly a year. However, it seemed like it only took a month to get here. Time does go by fast when you are having fun. The day of the wedding started off a little different. First, that the night before I had a bachelor party (a very good one) and I had to go everywhere from the church to the reception hall and help decorate and set up for the wedding. However, I couldn't see Crystal after we separated at 7pm for our parties. Secondly, I had to stay the night at my sister's house and sleep my nephews bunk bed. I went straight to bed but it was a rough night of sleep. Waking up at 9:00am was by far stinky. Considering the fact that I went to sleep at 4:30am. I went to my apartment where took a shower, shaved, got dressed grabbed my tux and went to the church to prepare for the wedding.
When I got there everyone kept asking me if I was nervous. I wasn't nervous until 20 people asked back to back if I was nervous. However, sitting there waiting for the wedding to begin for 3 hours was the hardest thing ever. I did have some god company to help the time go by faster. It seemed like forever though before the wedding started. My cousin is a Photographer for the Chicago Sun-Times and he came down to shoot the wedding. He is amazing! He was taking unbelievable pictures of me and the guys in the wedding.
At about 2:15pm after we took pictures. I needed to go to Ground Zero (Name of our Youth Building at the church for Radiate Student Ministries) to have a talk and prayer with the group Illuminate (Powerful Drama ministry team within the Youth Department) I couldn't talk to them with out crying, thinking about how many lives they will touch when they minister before the wedding. After the word and prayer I headed back to the church and into Pastor David's office were he was wanting to meet with me.
Pastor David talked with me and encouraged me on this big step. He then along with one of my groomsman and best friends Pastor Josh Martin prayed with me and over me. It was so refreshing. My best man John Heuglin came in after that and prayed with me as well.
2:45pm, Pastor Curtis and the New Vision Band and Choir started off with Praise and Worship. It was outstanding! Seeing friends, family, and loved ones walking in and just worshiping the Lord was a sight I will never forget. The worship really set the tone for the rest of the ceremony.
3:02pm, Illuminate came out to perform and minister one of the best drama's that they do "The Potter's Hand". It was awesome, it was great to have our teenagers participate in our wedding. It was so powerful, I was just crying as I was worshiping the Lord up top on the balcony in the church.
After they were done Pastor, my Best man John and I went down to the back to get in position for the wedding.
3:10pm, it was time for all the wedding music and ceremony to start.
Check back later for the next blog entry to find out how the wedding went.
Freak Out,
