Stay Away from Wal-Mart

Radiate Students Recap 2.27.08

Last night Radiate Students was off the chain. The excitement was in the air as service began. Even with Pastor David not being able to lead the service.

It started off with some fun game time. Four teenagers (2 boys & 2 girls) competed against one another in a AIR GUITAR CONTEST.

It was electric (no pun intended). First Time visitor Blake rocked the house with his Marty McFly moves.

Bing's Band lead worship and they were on fire. It seemed the teenagers went deeper in Worship this week.
Praise God!!!

Pastor Craig Harvey delivered the word and boy did he deliver.

He preached on Wal-Mart. Yes, I did say Wal-Mart.

Pastor Craig talked about how we sometimes go to Wal-Mart and say we aren't going to stay long.
But our 5 minutes turns into 2 hours costing us to spend more then we wanted to spend.
Also, Showing some of our little sins (Evan Cato size) we can control it in our life and try to hide it. We can pick it up, push it around, etc. The more we feed it though it then becomes bigger (Neil Davis size) and we no longer can control it and hide it. The sin now controls us!
As long as we truly give it to God, Repent of our sin, then God can get rid of that sin and it can no longer control us.

The Alter was packed and God was truly blessing the teenagers as well as the leaders.

So basically, Don't go into Wal-Mart (sin) because you will be there longer then you want to stay, and it will cost you more then you want to pay.

Radiate is by far the best Youth Group in the World.

Can't wait for Next week!!

Being a Servant

Fusion Recap 2.24.08

In Fusion, we have been teaching a series called God's way. This series is designed to teach teenagers to do things the way God as intended for us to do them. Instead of doing things the way we want to do them. In this series we have talked about Doing things God's way, then Praying God's way, followed by Worship God's way.

This week was the Forth subject which was on being a Servant, How to Serve God's Way. As I was preparing for the message I started to read John 13, where Jesus before the feast of the Passover washed the feet of his disciples. It was the most humbling way to serve his disciples before he went to the Cross. However, it took a very humbling group to allow someone like Jesus to wash his feet.

While reading this chapter, I noticed that it tied into every other teaching in the bible on servant hood. Teachings from the words of Jesus and the words of Paul. I thought about not only are we suppose to just serve God, but when serving God we are suppose to serve one another. I think we miss that a lot of times. Especially in Youth Ministry. We forget that when serving other people we must lower ourselves and lift them up. That is what true servant hood is, it is to make the next person more important then ourselves.

At the end of the message I challenged everyone to do something humbling, Wash your neighbor's feet. The Lord spoke to me to wash one of teenagers feet. Immediately I know exactly whose feet I was suppose to wash. As I called up that teenage boy and began to wash his feet it was so humbling. I could really feel the presence of the Lord. At first the teenagers was laughing and joking at the whole thing. After all, who can blame them? It is a very weird thing to do.

After I washed the feet of a male teenager, I told him that the ball was in his court. He called out another teenage boy and began washing his feet. Regina ( A Youth Leader) washed the feet of a teenage girl and then the young girl began to wash other teenage girl's feet. This started a chain reaction that went on for the next 10 to 15 minutes. It was an awesome time to see everyone humbling themselves and washing each others feet. I think it was more humbling for a person to allow someone else to wash their feet. That was the same reaction Peter had to Jesus in John 13.

The teenagers seem to really grow from this. I believe that they now see how to serve God a different way. God's way!

I can't wait to when I get to speak on the last subject of this series. LIFE: How to Live God's Way!

Free For All Fusion

Fusion Recap 2/17/08

Fusion has been a great place for the teenagers at Radiate Student Minisitires to come and learn about God's Word and grow. It proves that it is not only a place for them to get free breakfast food for their body but for them to get food (God's Word) for their Soul. They also get to hang out a little more which allows them to build relationships with one another.

I am so grateful that God has blessed me as the director of Fusion to be able to teach and disciple these teenagers. The other Youth Leaders and I try to cover a lot of topics all through the Word of God to help them grow in the Lord. However, if we never give the teenagers the opportunity for them to pick the topics then some might go on never knowing the answers to their many questions.

So, this past Sunday we did something for the first time ever in Fusion. We had a FREE FOR ALL FUSION. What is a FREE FOR ALL? A FREE FOR ALL is where the teenagers get to ask the questions on whatever topics they want. It turned out to be a great discussion on many different topics such as, the "theory" of evolution, the flood, Global Warming, and the age of the Earth.

It was a very great Fusion and was the birth of a new Fusion activity. Every month we will have a FREE FOR ALL FUSION and give all the teenagers a chance to ask those tough questions that they cant' find answers to. With that we will also have an email address designed for those personal types of questions. Where they can ask anonymously about things they are battling in their life. That will be through MySpace and Gmail. This will be a great way for the teenagers to grow more and more in God as they go deeper in the Word. I am so excited about what God is doing. You don't want to miss it.

Fusion is for ages 7th grade to 19 years old
Every Sunday Morning at 9:00am in Ground Zero.
Doors open at 8:30am.
Come and enjoy!
Remember to bring your Bible.

St. Valentine's Day

St. Valentine was a priest near Rome in about the year 270 A.D. At that time the Roman Emperor was imprisoning Christians for not worshipping the Roman gods. During this persecution Valentine was arrested. Some write that he was arrested because he was performing Christian marriages, but others say it was for helping Christians escape prison.
During the trial they asked Valentine what he thought of the Roman gods Jupiter and Mercury. Valentine said they were false gods and that the God that Jesus called Father was the only true God. So the Romans threw him in prison for insulting the gods.
While in prison Valentine continued to minister. He witnessed to the guards. One of the guards was a good man who had adopted a blind girl. He asked Valentine if his God could help his daughter. Valentine prayed and the girl was given her sight. The guard and his whole family, 46 people, believed in Jesus and were baptized. Because these people had come to know Jesus, Valentine praised God right there in his prison cell. When the emperor heard about this he was furious that Valentine was still making converts even in prison, so he had Valentine beheaded.
Valentine knew that he might get caught in his Christian activities. He knew that if he told the court the truth about the Roman gods that he would be thrown in prison. And he knew that if he continued to witness to Christ in the prison he would make his captors angry. But he continued, because he loved the Lord and his fellow humans. He was willing to risk his life to free the prisoners and spread the Good News of Jesus Christ to those who needed to hear it.
The Bible Says: "No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends."(John 15:13) God showed us this love by coming in Christ to die for our sins. And St. Valentine demonstrated this love when he died for his friends. This is the kind of love that Valentine's Day is really about.

So remember, that God Sent his Son Jesus Christ to earth. he was born of a virgin and lived a sinless and spotless life. We (the whole world) have broken God's Law (Ten Commandments) we have lied, stolen, used his name in vain, lusted (adultery), have hatred (murder). God's word saids we must be perfect to go into heaven. If we break his Law then we must be judged. That judgment for sin is HELL. It is impossible for us to be perfect so that is why the "perfect" Jesus died on the Cross. He took the punishment for our sins. We just need to Repent (turn from sin, change of mind and direction) and put our faith and Trust in Jesus Christ. The same faith in trust we would put in a parachute to save us is the same we put in Christ. Trust him with everything and read his holy word (bible) and obey his commandments daily. That is God's Love for you!!!

Ash Wednesday at Radiate

Recap of Radiate Student Ministries

Wednesday February 6, 2008: "Ash Wednesday"

It all started when I got a phone call at around 2pm yesterday from Pastor David. He asked me to speak Last night in the Youth Service. He stated he needed to be in the main service. Pastor asked me if I had anything on my heart to speak about. I advised him that I didn’t. He said that was ok just go ahead and speak and see if can get together a message. So I immediately began to pray and ask the Lord to show me what he wanted to say to the teenagers. Within minutes God gave me a word since it was Ash Wednesday God’s message revolved around that.

As I was speaking and teaching on Ashes and how God uses Fire, I could feel the presences of the Lord so strong. Last night God wanted to take those teenagers and purify them in fire just like Gold. God wanted the ashes of those teenagers. The ashes of Anger, Depression, Cutting, Pornography, Sex, Drugs, Alcohol, Eating Disorders, Lying, Stealing, and Rebellion.

Last night, God got what he wanted. More then half of the teenagers answered the Alter Call with things they were wanting for God to burn off. It was a true Cleansing from the Holy Spirit. Many lives were changed last night.

In Order for Gold to be pure and precious it must go through fire. The same is for his people. Let’s remember that the ashes of our sin our pleasurable to God.

God even spoke through one of the teenagers. Shauna got up to speak and said that, “this is what we have been crying out asking God for and now God was giving it to us.” The teenagers took what God was giving them and held on to it. It was by far a true Worship and cleansing experience. I am just so blessed and honored that God would use me to deliver such a message.

Radiate I am so proud of you. I can’t wait for Fusion. Can you smell those ashes?
