Being a Servant
Fusion Recap 2.24.08
In Fusion, we have been teaching a series called God's way. This series is designed to teach teenagers to do things the way God as intended for us to do them. Instead of doing things the way we want to do them. In this series we have talked about Doing things God's way, then Praying God's way, followed by Worship God's way.
This week was the Forth subject which was on being a Servant, How to Serve God's Way. As I was preparing for the message I started to read John 13, where Jesus before the feast of the Passover washed the feet of his disciples. It was the most humbling way to serve his disciples before he went to the Cross. However, it took a very humbling group to allow someone like Jesus to wash his feet.
While reading this chapter, I noticed that it tied into every other teaching in the bible on servant hood. Teachings from the words of Jesus and the words of Paul. I thought about not only are we suppose to just serve God, but when serving God we are suppose to serve one another. I think we miss that a lot of times. Especially in Youth Ministry. We forget that when serving other people we must lower ourselves and lift them up. That is what true servant hood is, it is to make the next person more important then ourselves.
At the end of the message I challenged everyone to do something humbling, Wash your neighbor's feet. The Lord spoke to me to wash one of teenagers feet. Immediately I know exactly whose feet I was suppose to wash. As I called up that teenage boy and began to wash his feet it was so humbling. I could really feel the presence of the Lord. At first the teenagers was laughing and joking at the whole thing. After all, who can blame them? It is a very weird thing to do.
After I washed the feet of a male teenager, I told him that the ball was in his court. He called out another teenage boy and began washing his feet. Regina ( A Youth Leader) washed the feet of a teenage girl and then the young girl began to wash other teenage girl's feet. This started a chain reaction that went on for the next 10 to 15 minutes. It was an awesome time to see everyone humbling themselves and washing each others feet. I think it was more humbling for a person to allow someone else to wash their feet. That was the same reaction Peter had to Jesus in John 13.
The teenagers seem to really grow from this. I believe that they now see how to serve God a different way. God's way!
I can't wait to when I get to speak on the last subject of this series. LIFE: How to Live God's Way!
Freak Out,
Daniel Spencer

Thank you for the wonderful work you are doing for the Lord. I appreciate your service and your godly influence. My son seems to really like Fusion. He wakes me up every Sunday and asks are we going to first service today? Thank you and God bless you Daniel. Ms. RAchellouise
